Summer is all about tanning and getting to be outdoors breathing in the fresh air and soaking up the vitamin D. I would very much love to be in the sandy beaches of Puerto Rico, but I shall settle for one of the surrounding Lakes here in Madison. We decided to go to James Madison Park because there is a spot not many people know about which has a large patch of land that is ideal for a picnic and relaxing. I have not been laying out as much as I’d like this summer, so this time I wanted to make the most of the day while playing and tanning. I love this new two-piece from Victoria's Secret, with its zebra print it has an edgy feel and cheeky bottom that highlights your curves. Going with an edgy vibe, I paired the Nickiee studded sandals for a rough and shiny texture complemented with the gold cuff. We spent the day enjoying the sun and playing catch with my awesome shark football as well as a fun game of paddle ball. Not only we had fun while playing but we tanned and got a bit of cardio while at it, three birds with one stone. I of course had to bring out the JBL portable speaker for listening to music and a Dior magazine to get amazing fashion inspiration. Sunscreen, Eos lip balm, and oil wipes are my must haves when out in the sun. This straw-hat tops off the look with a vintage vibe and I am pretty sure it is reversible. I love this "Protect The Skin You're In" T-shirt especially because it was made to cause cancer awareness, but also as the perfect beach cover up since it is long enough to cover my bottom. At the end of the day we enjoyed the most beautiful sunset you can see under Lifestyle. I am so happy to share with you the latest good news I received! You are looking at the new Urban Outfitters employee! Ever since I moved to Madison I have wanted to work there and now that I have the opportunity I am excited to continue learning and to be part of a great culture. Urban Outfitters, Free People, Anthropologie, and Terrain are all sister companies which is pretty exciting to think of this new window of opportunities! This is what I chose to wear to my interview; I did not want to look like I tried too hard or not enough but this I felt like a great balance. I chose to wear this silk button up from Urban Outfitters for a semi-business look and the color is great. Paired with black high-waist leggings it is a perfectly comfortable duo, to prevent being nervous in an interview dress comfy. For a retro vibe I chose vintage earrings and Station Bag which also adds texture. These chunky heels quickly became one of my favorite; they are comfortable and make you feel super tall and confident. I put my hair up in a bird’s nest and topped off the look with a bold lip. D R E A M I N G of B R A S I L The best part about summer is that first time you finally lie out and enjoy the sun, that feeling is magical. Having just a shade darker is what gave me the extra push I needed to wear this bright yellow dress. With its open back and silky fabric, you will be sure to stay cool even under the scorching sun. The delicate straps work well with strappy sandals, and the wooden heel adds great texture. Green mirrored aviators and red Dooney and Bourke handbag give the right pops of color for a little more oomph. To top off this look I chose black jeweled cameos and a braided bracelet giving a hint of a little bohemian style. This look is bright and colorful ideal for a trip to Rio de Janeiro, or you could settle for a World Cup party. Nonetheless you will be sure to score! Summer is never official until you get to the farmers market! The fresh produce, beautiful flowers, and plants are my go-to for their affordable prices, as well as the delicious cheese curds and other goodies. Saturdays are a perfect day to come to Madison; the streets are filled with musicians and a variety of artists as well as many sightseers. This Saturday was more special having both Farmers Market and the annual Cars on State classic car show that John and I both look forward to. Knowing that it is hot out may prevent you from getting out there and enjoying this beautiful thing called: life. This calls for a dress, but not just any dress. Diane Von Furstenberg was calling my name. With its sheer texture the wind flows right through with the breeze that is just effortless. I have not been a fan of the high-low trend(at least not on me) until I put this dress on, I like that it is not as dramatic of a high-low as you would normally see. The unusual print reminds me of some sort of an animal print, which is why I grabbed my tiny turtle sterling silver earrings that I got from the cutest little shop on State Street. I decided to keep my hair natural again and just changed it up by pinning it into what I call a bird’s nest. To the farmers market I wore braided sandals and for a day-to-night look the amazing satin Carolyne sling backs. A vintage cameo makes for the perfect statement ring to top off this boho- chic look.
